about us

Intermezzo Bar + Café was created as a local’s hangout that visitors also enjoy.  Comfortable yet vibrant, the space was designed for friends to meet up for a flavorful bite, a glass of Santa Barbara wine or a craft cocktail before dinner. At the same time, a complete lunch or dinner in Intermezzo features fresh chopped salads, innovative flatbreads, gourmet burgers and delectable small plates for sharing. Dine al fresco on the historic courtyard, partake European-style on the front portico or arrive before the dinner rush to enjoy a coveted fireplace couch.  Warm and inviting service and a decidedly welcoming, Santa Barbara atmosphere, are our defining characteristics— and no need for reservations, just drop in and join us soon at Intermezzo!

"Schedule in some time for a flight of wines at Intermezzo, its selections scrawled in colored chalk above the bar. The wines are local...and served on tap, and the food is meant to be matched with said wines. Think a starter of beef tartare with juniper dust, or ten unique flatbreads (like the Orchard, with peaches, salami, goat cheese, and pepper preserves). Save room for clever desserts like chocolate and chevre doughnuts or warm chocolate-chip cookie pie."

Fodor's Travel

"The small space is designed as a cozy quick stop for small plates, flatbreads, artisan cocktails, and local wines on tap. Dine alfresco on the Anacapa-facing portico or, as fall rolls in, enjoy the warmth of the indoor fireplace."
